Truman State falls 2-1 at Missouri-St. Louis in men’s soccer

Truman State University lost 2-1 to Missouri-St. Louis in men's soccer Saturday at Don Dallas Field in St. Louis after giving up two goals less than 10 minutes apart.

Brady Freeman, of Missouri-St. Louis, scored both. He opened the scoring in the Great Lakes Valley Conference match at 72:44 with a bicycle kick from the top of the box, according to the box score, and scored again at 82:03 when a Truman State free kick deflected off him into the net. The free kick, by goalkeeper Owen Robben, of Truman State, hit Freeman in the back, according to the Missouri-St. Louis recap.

Jacob Panagos, of Truman State, scored on a penalty kick at 86:49 after Colson Below, of Missouri-St. Louis, was called for a foul, according to the play-by-play.

Robben played all 90 minutes in goal and made four saves, all in the first half. Will Winkler, of Missouri-St. Louis, played all 90 minutes and made two saves, both on shots by Roman Scognamillo, of Truman State, at 68:49 and 70:26.

Missouri-St. Louis outshot Truman State 15-14 and had six shots on goal to three. Freeman put all four of his shots on goal. Truman State had five corner kicks to three and was called for 14 fouls to 12.

Zoran Sabbert, of Truman State, received a yellow card at 58:14. Mario Garcia, Connor Lynd, and Mason Niedbalski, all of Missouri-St. Louis, received yellow cards at 59:20, 63:16, and 87:51.

Attendance was 183.

Truman State is 4-4-3 and 3-3-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Missouri-St. Louis is 4-4-2 and 3-3-2.

Truman State plays at Upper Iowa at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in Fayette, Iowa.
