Dylan Hair, of Truman State, threw two touchdown passes and ran for another, and Truman State University beat Missouri S&T 42-14 in football Saturday at Stokes Stadium.
Madden Irving, of Truman State, scored on a 7-yard run in the second quarter for a 7-0 lead. AJ Harris, of Missouri S&T, answered with a 3-yard run to tie it at 7-7. Kai Crowe, of Truman State, caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Hair, of Truman State, and Diego Perez, of Truman State, missed the extra point for a 13-7 lead. Hair, of Truman State, scored on a 17-yard run before halftime, and Irving, of Truman State, threw for a two-point conversion for a 21-7 lead.
Vance Herring, of Truman State, caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Hair, of Truman State, in the third for a 28-7 lead. Tyler Gioia, of Missouri S&T, caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Eli Scott, of Missouri S&T, to make it 28-14. Irving, of Truman State, scored on a 6-yard run early in the fourth for a 35-14 lead. Quincy Mayfield, of Truman State, scored on a 3-yard run for the final margin. Perez, of Truman State, kicked four extra points.
Hair, of Truman State, completed 16 of 28 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns with one interception and ran nine times for 121 yards and a touchdown. Irving, of Truman State, ran 19 times for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Crowe, of Truman State, caught four passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. Jackson Overton, of Truman State, caught two for 42 yards. Adam Hall, of Truman State, caught three for 38 yards. Herring, of Truman State, caught one for 11 yards and a touchdown. Mayfield, of Truman State, ran four times for 7 yards and a touchdown.
Scott, of Missouri S&T, completed 27 of 44 passes for 272 yards and one touchdown with one interception. DJ McPherson, of Missouri S&T, caught six passes for 73 yards. Gioia, of Missouri S&T, caught four for 67 yards and a touchdown. Evan Wells, of Missouri S&T, ran 15 times for 38 yards. Harris, of Missouri S&T, ran seven times for 17 yards and a touchdown. Layne Ryals, of Missouri S&T, kicked both extra points.
Idrique Carmichael, of Truman State, and Jack Weltha, of Truman State, each had seven tackles. Logan Montoya, of Truman State, and Alex Medina, of Truman State, each had six. Dalton Brown, of Truman State, intercepted a pass. Devin Dunn, of Missouri S&T, had nine tackles. Reid Meekins, of Missouri S&T, and Patrick Fortune, of Missouri S&T, each had five. Cameron Sturgell, of Missouri S&T, intercepted a pass.
Truman State outgained Missouri S&T 459-320 with 243 rushing yards. Missouri S&T passed for 272 yards. Both teams held the ball for about 30 minutes.
