Missouri Recorder of Deeds Fees to Increase in 2026

Starting August 28, 2026, a $2.00 increase in fees for recording documents, marriage licenses, and land surveys will take effect statewide, including in Macon County. The change comes after the passage of Missouri Senate Bill 938.

Local Recorders of Deeds offices, including those serving La Plata and other northeast Missouri towns, will update their fee schedules to comply with the new law. Officials say these adjustments will be implemented promptly on the law’s effective date.

Residents who routinely use recording services are advised to contact their local Recorder of Deeds office for detailed information on updated fees.

The Recorders Association of Missouri and county Recorders remain committed to following all legal requirements tied to their duties.
