A 35-year-old Macon woman was seriously injured Wednesday evening when the utility vehicle she was driving struck a deer and overturned near Anabel, throwing her out.
The crash happened at 7:05 p.m. on Olympic Avenue about 2 miles northeast of Anabel, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
The woman was driving a 2019 Honda UTV south when it hit the deer, the patrol reported. The UTV then traveled off the roadway and overturned, and she was ejected.
Air Evac flew her to University Hospital, according to the report. The patrol listed her injuries as serious and reported that she was not using a safety device.
The UTV had extensive damage, the report says. Still Towing removed it from the scene.
Trooper Willock of Troop B investigated. Master Sgt. Ritter of the patrol and Macon County EMS assisted, according to the report.
The patrol’s public online report does not name the driver. It lists her age, gender, hometown, and role in the crash. The patrol stopped posting names on its online crash reports in November 2024, and Missouri press and broadcast groups sued the agency Oct. 16 in Cole County to restore them, as the Macon Chronicle reported Oct. 20.
The patrol’s incident number for the crash is 260457625.
