The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for Macon County from midnight tonight through 8 a.m. CST Saturday, with temperatures as low as 29 degrees expected.
The warning was issued at 12:29 a.m. Friday by the weather service office in Pleasant Hill. It also covers Adair, Chariton, Linn, Randolph, and other counties in central, north-central, and northeast Missouri.
Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing, according to the warning. The weather service said residents should take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
