Bender wins Atlanta mayor’s race unopposed; school board elects three

Lisa Bender was elected mayor of Atlanta unopposed Tuesday, receiving 57 of 64 votes cast, with seven write-in ballots recorded, according to unofficial results from the Macon County Clerk’s office.

The Atlanta city alderman race produced an unusual outcome: no candidates filed for the two available seats, and all 19 votes cast went to write-in candidates.

On the Atlanta C-3 School Board, with three seats up for election, Marissa Walker led with 164 votes, followed by Preston Ross at 148, Aaron Baker at 135, Brady Bogeart at 108, and April Hruska at 108. Walker, Ross, and Baker take the three seats based on unofficial totals.

Atlanta voters also approved Question #1 by a margin of 48 yes to 25 no, or about 66 percent in favor.

All results are unofficial pending certification by the Macon County Clerk.
