St. Cloud State University (1-0-0) beat Truman State University (0-1-0) 3-2 on Thursday night at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville.
Andrés García scored three goals for St. Cloud State, the last on a penalty kick in the 88th minute. Jacob Panagos scored both Truman State goals. Slayton Spencer had the assist on the second. Owen Robben made three saves.
The first half was scoreless. García scored in the 47th minute on an assist from André Walters. Panagos tied it in the 55th minute.
Panagos put Truman State ahead in the 66th minute on an assist from Spencer. García tied it in the 75th minute on an assist from Santiago Martin and converted the penalty kick in the 88th.
Truman State outshot St. Cloud State 16-8 and had eight shots on goal to six. The Bulldogs had eight corner kicks to one. Erik Willke made six saves for St. Cloud State.
Attendance was 240.
Truman State is an NCAA Division II program in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Truman State hosts Hannibal-LaGrange University at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bulldog Soccer Park.
